Creating Tornadoes

After making my Fun with Tornadoes video I thought it was only fair to show you how to make a Tornado, and some awesome destruction of your own!

What you’re going to make….

The Process

If you have a map, open that, or if you just want to test a Tornado, I find Shore works well for this kind of stuff.

  1. Click on the Entity button under the Objects heading.

  2. Then click on the Environment folder:

  3. Drag the Tornado object onto the view port.

If for some ghastly reason you want to delete your tornado, just find the icon below, click it, and press Delete.

  1. Ok i got hold of creating tornados now but can you make a tutorial about how to spawn weapons and use them?.Im not talking IN SandBox as thats very simple but rather how to edit the original Demo level(island.cry) by adding more advanced weapons in there like Gauss Rifle for example.

So far my tries have ended 2 ways:
*None of my added weapons appear
*Weapons appear but are not pickable/usable

So far ive tried like this:
Open SandBox–>Open island.cry–>opeb DB(Database) in upper right corner–>selected weapon and dragged into view port along checking boxes in right for:
    Pickable:True
    Usable:True
    Psyhics:True

  2. I’m gonna try thiz now :D

BTW.: I can use the weapons (most of them) but i cant use the MOAR or MOAC (thats how its named, i think)
any idea how to do that? or is it impossible because crytek didn’t implement it yet?

    cheers

  3. I put this entity in my map but when i play it it doesn’t show up, do you have to trigger it or something?

  4. You don’t have to trigger it. Sometimes when you put entities on the map, the actual entity gets placed in some random position for an unknown reason. Make sure you can see a small icon with a Tornado on it.

  5. Hay,

I can put them on a map, but one thing I don’t get:
You can set the radius and all, but whatever I do, it will keep wandering all over the map.
Now I know that’s all up to nature, but it would be kool if you could keep it in certain areas.
That way we/I can create the most disastrous scenarios.

  6. Well I haven’t played with tornadoes too much, but can’t you change the wandering speed to 0, or possibly -1? That could disable wandering. :)

  7. You may be able to path the tornado like you can with clouds and NPC’s to go into a continuous loop, but I havn’t expirimented with pathing yet so I’m not sure.

  8. About the weapons, i’m not sure if it works the same way in CryeEgine2 but in the original CryEngine you have to add the weapons in the mission settings for them to appear and work properly.

  9. About the weapons too you have to go to entities and weapons and click and drag so then u will be able to go in game and pick it up but if u want to start with them your going to have to go to view and open up flow graph >

click new > then add a misc start > zoom in with middle mouse button if its just a black dot > then go to add > inventory add item and u can also use add ammunition and then from the misc start drag from the flag thing from the right to the add item and then from the add item to the add ammo. make sure u drag the blue line to the sync area! then save the flow graph and go in game (ctrl + g_ and you should have the weapons and also u can add a parachute and start in the air quite a bit and if u did it correctly it should tell you to deploy the parachute and hit space bar to deploy!
