Creating Volumetric Clouds
Gone are the days where all clouds are just flat images in the skybox! Volumetric (3D) clouds really add to the immersion when sky diving, or flying around in helicopters.
- Open your map or create a new one
- Go to Layer Settings and then click the New Layer button
- Go back to the Objects tab and click on Entity
- Click on the Render folder
- Drag the Cloud entity on to the view port
You should see this icon:
- Under Entity Properties, click on the Open folder next to the CloudFile field
- Select Camera Clouds…
…and then stratocumulus_medium1.xml…
…and press Open
- With the Cloud icon still selected, press M on the keyboard to open the Material Editor
- Find the material ldrfixed_op10darkerthandark
- Right click on this material and select Assign to Selected Objects
- And there you have it. The cloud may be hard to see depending on the Time of Day settings, so consider layering them (just by cloning then and then moving each clone slightly): this will also generate a more realistic look.
- Here is a cloud shown at night time
awesome, love the auto move feature :D.
