Creating Meshes with the Voxel Tool

Using the Voxel tool you can create blobby style meshes to add to your terrain such as: natural bridges, caves or overhanging ridges that extend over existing terrain.

5. Now click on the Voxel Painter button under the Rollupbar.

6. Under Brush Settings change Type to Create and start painting inside of the VoxelObject. You can also use Subtract to remove uneeded voxels.

7. Here’s an example of a random statue I made:

8. You can also have your voxels cast shadows by changing the CastShadowMaps option to True under the VoxelObject Params.

9. Now jump into the game by pressing Ctrl + G and look around it. The nice thing about Voxels is that they automatically generate collision volumes. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

  1. With the voxel objects does anyone know how to perfectly allign the voxel mesh, if it is copying the so you can make a tunnel. I find the mesh does not perfectly mimic the terrain causing clipping issues which need to be hidden by bushes, which can look silly.

  2. use the align to plane tool for better control with voxels.. though you need to set plane before hand!!

  3. nice statue.

just wanted to say that all these tutorials are really helpful for people like me who are “want to be modders” but don’t have helpful sites like these. thank you everyone.

    thank God for crysis
